Aichelin Ges.m.b.H.

AICHELIN is one of the leading furnace manufacturers in Europe. Founded 1868 in Stuttgart/ Germany, AICHELIN is a company with great tradition, assuring high quality standards and enjoying a very good reputation in the market. The Austrian subsidiary was founded 1960 and is situated in Mödling near Vienna. Since 1997 AICHELIN is a member of the Berndorf-Group. The company has moved to Mödling/Austria with the headquarters, the technical development, the R&D bureau and the manufacturing. Since 2008 the AICHELIN Holding GmbH Mödling/Austria is parent enterprise of AICHELIN Ges.m.b.H. also located in Mödling and the NOXMAT GmbH located in Oederan/Germany. AICHELIN Holding GmbH holds 100 percent of AICHELIN Ges.m.b.H. and the majority of NOXMAT GmbH.

The main products of AICHELIN Ges.m.b.H. are continuous furnaces for annealing, hardening and carburizing.  AICHELIN is the market-leader in this field in Europe. Due to the remarkable energy consumption for the high temperature processes (850 – 1000°C) preferrable heating of the furnaces by gas burners is applied. About 15 years ago AICHELIN decided to start its own manufacturing of recuperative burners. The burners are applied not only for requirement of AICHELIN, but also for sold externally. The burner systems are manufactured by NOXMAT.

Dr.-Ing. Herwig Altena is the Manager of R&D of the AICHELIN Ges.m.b.H. He studied Chemical Engineer at the Technical University of Vienna and works at AICHELIN since 20 years. The main activities concern process and furnace development of the heat treatment plants, including numerous publications in different matters concerning process development and furnace applications. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Phys. Wolfgang Harbeck (Noxmat GmbH) graduated in 1973 from the Technical University of Chemnitz in Physics and received his PhD from the University of Applied Sciences in Zittau in 1989 in the subject of combustion in flat flame burners.

He works in the field of development and design of gas burners since 25 years, beginning at a company manufacturing gas cookers and firings, later at the Deutsches Brennstoff Institut Freiberg.

Today he is the president of a subsidiary company of AICHELIN, manufacturing recuperative gas burners. He was already involved in the EU-projects:

            SiC to Metal brazing for medium and high temperature applications

AICHELIN Ges.m.b.H.is beneficiary of the CEREXPRO-project. The sister company NOXMAT GmbH will act as a third party in accordance with special clause 10 because the beneficiary AICHELIN Ges.m.b.H. and NOXMAT GmbH are both acting under the direct control of the parent company AICHELIN Holding GmbH. NOXMAT will perform most of the work concerning the integration of the heat exchanging structures in existing burners. Another task is the testing of the new burners in the test facilities of NOXMAT.
